Everyone loves a powerful performance of the Star-Spangled Banner, and Jackson Dean Nicholson delivered just that during his time as a senior defensive end at Arundel High School in Maryland. However, driven by his passion for music, he decided to stand alone on the field, armed with only his acoustic guitar and a microphone. Little did the audience know what an incredible performance awaited them.
“It was fantastic. I probably knew 90% of the people in those stands, and they had no idea I was doing it until I pulled out my guitar,” Nicholson shared in an interview with the Baltimore Sun at the time.Nicholson’s love for music runs deep, and he has been composing and singing songs since his high school days. In fact, he was working on his own record when he went viral with his rendition of the national anthem. With aspirations beyond the football field, Nicholson diligently pursued his music career under the stage name Jackson Dean, a nod to the renowned actor Jack Nicholson.
As he had mentioned back in 2018, Jackson’s football days were numbered. After completing all his credits by January, he planned to take his music career to the next level. His principal showed immense support by granting him a waiver, further fueling his determination to pursue his passion.
