Country music performer Ingrid Andress astonished the MLB Home Run Derby audience last night by performing the national anthem in her own unique style.
The consensus was that her performance was one of the worst, if not the worst of all time.
“Whoa! A spectator tweeted, @IngridAndress actually did it, she united America #HRDerby.”
The four-time Grammy nominee made history by singing “The Star Spangled Banner” to kick off the Home Run Derby at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
It was obvious from the first notes that Andress’ performance would live on for a long time.
Hear it yourself…
After listening to the country artist, people had a lot to say.
Someone commented, “I think we all owe Fergie an apology,” in reference to Fergie’s playing of the national anthem during the NBA All-Stars Game in 2018.
Most people dived in the comments section to express their hilarious experiences of listening to this ‘masterpiece’.
“Made Fergie sound like Whitney Houston”
“Dogs howling, cats running to hide under the couch and desperate scrambling for the mute button.”
“I hope Ingrid Andress takes a brief break from social media.”
“I apologize, that was one of the worst national anthems I think I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I know Ingrid Andress is a wonderful person.”
But one comment stood up to be the funniest of all: “My friend stood up from his wheelchair for the first time in 12 years just so he could find the remote to hit the mute button.” This one surely made us laugh out loud… while sitting alone in the office!
Without a doubt, “The Star Spangled Banner” is an extremely difficult song to sing. Perhaps instead of risking embarrassing performers, venues should continue to play Whitney Houston’s performance of the national anthem, which is among the best ever.
