Ingredients:
1 loaf Italian bread
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 pound ribeye steak
Black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
½ cup parmesan cheese
Parsley, chopped for garnish
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise into two halves and place on the baking sheet, cut side up.
In a small bowl, mix the garlic, butter, salt, and pepper. Spread evenly on the bread.
Thinly slice the steak. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil and add half the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, cooking until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Add green peppers in the last 5 minutes if using.
In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and the steak. Shred with spatulas and cook until done but not crisp, about 2 minutes.
Distribute steak, onions, and peppers evenly over the bread halves. Top with cheeses.
Bake for 12-14 minutes until the cheese is golden. Garnish with parsley and serve in slices.
